What is a Humanist Wedding?
A Humanist Ceremony is a non-religious ceremony, which is deeply personal and is conducted by a Humanist Wedding Celebrant (me).
A Humanist Ceremony is for you and all about you.
You (the couple) are at the heart of the ceremony and each ceremony is completely hand crafted to reflect your love, values and who you are as a couple. It can also celebrate the wider community of people that you have around you.
Humanist Wedding Ceremonies are inclusive, positive, and are affirming, heart-warming, and even fun!
There are lots of options for what a ceremony can include. Some ideas of what might be included are: symbolic gestures, readings, unique vows, poems, music & rituals.
You might already have some ideas for your ceremony, and it’s also OK if you don’t yet. It’s my job to help guide this process, and to work with you to create your ideal ceremony.
In Northern Ireland, Humanist Wedding Ceremonies are legally recognised. This means you can get married in a Humanist Ceremony and complete the legal paperwork at the same time.
Humanist Ceremonies are for everyone, you don’t need to identify as a Humanist to have a Humanist Wedding.
More about Humanism..
Humanism is a philosophy and approach to life which encourages people to shape our own lives in the here and now, to make sense of the world through logic & reason, and to always try to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, and respect.
The Humanist movement is closely aligned with efforts towards human rights, freedom from discrimination, and equality.
